Firstly, we must mention that the Standard drone price is hard to beat. When looking for similar features from other brands, it compares well.

The Standard is an entry-level Quadcopter with lesser features compared to other Phantom 3 models. You do not get visual positioning, making it easier to fly indoors.

The only time you get GPS on the model is flying outdoors. Compared to the Advanced and Professional that provides you with indoor and outdoor GPS, this one is basic.

Furthermore, there is a vast difference in the controller as well. The remote control that comes with the other models works with Lightbridge Technology to capture better footage when used between the ground and sky. Furthermore, the latter offers 3.1 miles of range.

The Standard drone works with Wi-Fi for transmitting live view from the craft to your mobile device. Therefore, you may find a loss of signal occasionally.

Even the transmission range is a maximum of 0.62 miles, and the remote control works on a 5.8GHz frequency. The control is limited and does not have camera control buttons to start or stop recordings, not programmable, and you cannot control the snapshots.

On the controller, you get an adjustment wheel to tilt the camera or use with the settings available on the DJI Go app for both iOS and Android devices. Compared to other models available in the collection, you do not have a Return-to-Home function but can use one of the switches on the control instead.

What camera do you find equipped on the drone?

The Standard camera offers you a distortion-free f2.8 wide-angle lens similar to the other two models. However, the maximum recording resolution is only at 30 frames per second and the same as the Advanced model.

Furthermore, the Advanced drone can record 1080p at 60fps, and the Standard is 1080p at 30fps. On the other hand, you can use the Standard to capture 12-megapixel images in JPEG and Adobe DNG formats.

With the application, you can change the shutter speed, do burst shooting, and time-lapse manually. Alternatively, the Quadcopter works with Intelligent Flight batteries.

You can check the status of each cell using the DJI Go app. The flight time is 25-minutes and impressive compared to the Mavic Air and Spark. However, if flying in windy conditions, we found the battery lasted 22-minutes.

Other standouts are the DJI Intelligent Flight function with the point of interest, waypoint navigation, Follow Me function, and flight planning. The modes you access using the flip down switch on the controller. However, you can only do this once the drone is in flight.

We found the video quality tremendous, and the gimbal keeps the camera stable in high winds. Furthermore, it does an excellent job at adjusting the change in lighting. Unfortunately, the big downside is you cannot upgrade the camera or use it as a handheld. To edit the content you can use the Go app.
