Bose SoundSport Free In-ear Headphones Review
Bose SoundSport Free Design
While the AirPods have dominated the market in wireless headphones for a while—Bose has outdone them with the SoundSport Free cordless version.
Now, it is one of the best wireless models available, and the price is even enticing. Furthermore, Bose advertises it as sports headphones.
So how comfortable are they—we took them for a test drive!
Firstly, the buds are comfortable and secure in the ear, and you will get a snug fit for running. Not only is it ideal for jogging you can wear them to work as well.
Compared to the predecessor the SoundSport Wireless this one also has the StayHear+ Sport tips that lock the earbuds in the year. Further, it seals out ambient noise to improve the quality of the sound.
Alternatively, they do not jam into your ears, and there are control buttons with volume control on the buds. We did find that they are a bit small and touch stiff.
However, they do work better than expected, and you will have no problem forwarding or skipping tracks. The only problem is they are not discreet and can stick out of the ear a bit.
Weighed against the AirPods, the sound on the SoundSport Free is better. You get a richer sound, but the highs are a bit recessed. While in a quiet room the bass comes over a bit bloated and gives the music a dreary edge.
Then again, if you are not concerned about audio detail, this should not bother you. On the other hand, if you are walking the bass tones outdoors down trying to compete with outside noise.
Now, how rugged are these wireless earbuds for working out?
While the headphones do not have the superior W1 Bluetooth chip, you get five-hour battery life used with moderate volume levels.
You get a charging case included to provide you with two extra full charges for 10-hours of added battery life. However, the casing is massive and not as lightweight as the AirPods.
For exercising, it only offers you a sweat-resistant construction and IPX4 rated. However, it did survive a full dunking without problems—but we do not recommend you try it.
Another concern is they are small, and you can lose them without a doubt—luckily, Bose has thought of everything with the new “Find My Buds” function.
You can use the feature with the Bose Connect App to show you where you last placed them on locating it. Furthermore, the app allows you to update the firmware as well.
Even the connection is rock solid and sounds great also when used in mono. The sound is fantastic and performs well when used with sports activities.

Should You Buy the SoundSport Free Cordless Earphones?
If you need a wireless earphone able to survive the abuse of your workouts, you will love the Bose SoundSport Free. However, it all depends if they fit your ears comfortably.
The earphones are made for athletes and come with the StayHear+ ear tips for a comfortable, secure fit to keep them in place. Furthermore, if you have a USB-C input device, you can easily use them and remains a reliable alternative to using a dongle.
Alternatively, if you hate exercising with wires, the fact that they are Bluetooth enabled and cordless is a plus. On the other hand, if you work in an office environment and value noise isolation, these are not for you.
While the price has dropped, they remain expensive compared to their rivals offering noise cancellation. Nonetheless, if you do not mind outside noise coming in these earphones work well.
Another important thing is the driver housing is enormous and do stick out a bit and could leave your frustrated. What’s more, the included wingtips will help keep them secure in the ears.
For the best wireless earphones, you will not be disappointed with the Bose SoundSport Free set. The appearance may look chunky as it protrudes from the ears, but the triple black finish gives it a modest touch.
However, if you are looking for something louder, you can always choose the Bright Orange or Midnight Blue. For personal preferences, we love the black finish, but the choice is up to you.
One thing sure the headphones stay neatly in place with the included tips that looks like small wings. Do you need extra stability for running these work well?
Alternatively, you can pick your size from small, medium to large for a perfect fit.
Furthermore, as the in-ear headset market is full of true wireless headphones, the Bose SoundSport Free is good enough to give you the best workout during any sports activity.
