Apple AirPods 2019 Review
- Apple AirPods 2019 Review
The Apple AirPods 2nd generation wireless earphones have arrived in the late 2019. Guess what they look the same!
However, while they make look alike, it is not what is on the outside but inside that count. According to Apple, the new AirPods offer you more talk time with Siri access.
They have thrown in a new wireless charging case into the mix, making it faster and smarter thanks to the H1 chip. Furthermore, you only need to call Siri using your voice.
On the other hand, Apple says it works like magic and provides high-quality sound.

Apple AirPod 2 Design
Well, with our first impression, we thought Apple added extra features in the mix. First, it is not sweat-resistant, leaving you without using them for workouts. Secondly, it does not have an ambient-listening mode or equalizer.
On the other hand, if it is your first true wireless AirPods, it is a great headphone to use with your iOS device. You can buy the earphones with or without the charging case providing a slight difference in price.
However, with this mind, the gel buds is a status symbol of Apple and started a new craze in several other brands. What’s more, Apple did not have to tweak anything, and the buds are still available in a white plastic finish with its long protruding stem.
We thought that Apple would at least bring out a wide selection of colors. You never know, maybe they are planning a more significant shade collection for the future.
Alternatively, we would have liked it if they added some form of water-resistance. The most significant difference notable is the wireless charging case.
The casing has the same plastic white color with a rear-mounted pairing button and chrome-lined Lightning port. On the front is a pinhole light, and the hinge is an anodized metal that is new.
Compared to the gen1 AirPod case, this one is heavier at 1.4 ounces.
So how comfortable is the AirPod 2 to wear?
Nothing has changed, and the AirPods still offers the same comfortable, lightweight feeling that many Apple users love even us.
The buds nestle softly into the ear without causing discomfort and fade into the background. However, it can freak you out as it is small (leaving you anxious that they might get lost.)
Knock on wood! Luckily, this has never happened with us and replacing the buds expensive. Even while wearing them for two hours while in meetings, listening to tunes, and videos, they remain comfortable.
How well do they connect?
When it comes to speed connecting the AirPods 2 is super fast. Once the buds paired with your device, the same widget pops up with the battery status of the buds and case.
What has changed is the new H1 chip added into the mix, enabling the wireless buds a longer battery life. Even switching between devices only takes seconds.
However, if you own an Android device, it does take a bit longer as you need to press the small button found on the back of the charging case.
You can also use the same button to reset the connection. Another highlight is the chip you get has no audio latency when playing mobile games.
On the other hand, your earphones are also smarter to use with Siri. When tested in a quiet environment only using your voice, it is impressive, and the same applied to the busy streets during rush hour.
Unfortunately, the downside is if you are an Android user, the features unavailable. Furthermore, you can adjust the shortcuts in settings with a double-tap.
Having the hands-free use is excellent, but we would love to see an adjustable ambient noise as well. The buds isolate noise, but you can still hear sound seeping through from the outside. Another function we think everybody will love is an equalizer to personalize your music.
So what about the audio does it sound good?
Unfortunately, the audio quality did not make it compared to other true wireless earbuds. Now do not get us wrong the sound quality is good with clean vocals and a stable soundstage.
However, we would have loved to be able to control the bass, and sometimes even the highs are recessed.
Now, most importantly, how well does it hold power?
You can get four hours of talking and listening time using the headphones. Charging the buds is simple by popping them into the casing and provides 24-hours of added use.
You can charge them with the Lightning cable or use the wireless function. The charging case provides up to 3-hours for listening and two hours for talking when charged for 15-minutes.
Furthermore, you get a stable connection with the Bluetooth 5.0 version. At dead spots, the wireless headset will drop its connection briefly.
What is magnificent is the range of up to 50 feet, and you get clear call quality standing on the busiest street.
